Are you about to take your child on vacation? If so, you need to make sure they have a strong and healthy smile. You don’t want to run into any dental problems while you’re sightseeing or relaxing on the beach, do you? To help you make sure your child’s smile is in top-notch condition for vacation, our dentist, Dr. George R. Hussey, has some tips for you.
The first tip is to bring your child into our office for a checkup. This might be the last thing you will want to do before you leave on vacation, but it’ll be worth it. Having a checkup will ensure a strong and healthy smile because our dental team will deeply clean the teeth, strengthen the smile, and provide any necessary treatment so your child can avoid toothaches and other dental issues on the road.
The second tip is to avoid wisdom tooth extraction within the month you are leaving. If your child has their wisdom teeth extracted right before your vacation, your child will feel sore and they won’t be able to eat many foods. They might also experience complications, depending on how the surgery went.
The third tip is to make sure your child visits their orthodontist if they have braces. That is, if they’re due for an appointment soon. It’s better to have the braces tightened before your trip so you don’t need to worry about missing an appointment and delaying your child’s smile results.
